Biographical Sketch
Franklin W. Olin was born January 9, 1860, in Woodford, Vermont, and graduated from Cornell University with an engineering degree in 1886. He moved to East Alton, Illinois, in 1892, where he established companies that eventually became Olin Industries, Inc. He died May 21, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri.
