Biographical Sketch

Charles Vachard dit (also known as) Lardoise was born to Louis Vachard and Elizabeth Bissette on January 11, 1774. The birthplace of Charles Vachard is unknown, although the family may have already been living in St. Louis since Missouri Genealogical Records and Abstracts show that Louis Vachard had a mortgage executed under the Spanish government for St. Louis in 1776. These records also show that Charles Vachard was a petitioner from the city of Carondelet in 1817. Charles Vachard died in 1851 and his estate was turned over to his son-in-law, David Adams. David Adams was married to Charles’ daughter, Elizabeth.
