Biographical Sketch
David Grant (1903-1985) was a St. Louis attorney known for his involvement in civil rights issues such as the Colored Clerk’s Circle (1930s), the March on Washington Movement, the Citizen’s Civil Rights Committee (1940s), and the Jefferson Bank demonstrations (1963-1964). He served as president of the local NAACP from 1946 to 1948. Grant was hailed for his role in integrating theaters and hotels in the city of St. Louis. From 1957 until his death in 1985, Grant was director of research for the St. Louis Board of Aldermen.
