Identifier: A3141

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of four theater programs from productions in which Bill Parker performed and directed. The productions date from ca. 1960 to 1974 and are arranged chronologically. The first three programs are productions performed by the Southtown Players during their tenure at the Richmond Theatre (1025 Big Bend Blvd., Richmond Heights): A Festival of Song (ca. 1960), The Man Who Came to Dinner (1962), and Dark of the Moon (1962). The Dark of the Moon program includes biographies of Parker, the director, and the cast. The final program is from the April 1974 production of Parker’s play, From These Sterile Hills, at Southern Illinois University’s Calipre Stage.

Parker’s doctoral thesis, Creativity and Memory: A Study of the Creative Process Involved in the Writing of the Interpreters, and scripts for two of his plays, From These Sterile Hills and Just As We Are, are in the Missouri Historical Society Library. A collection of photographs from Parker’s time in St. Louis in the 1950s and 1960s is in the Photo and Prints Department.
