Martha Thomas Louisiana Purchase Exposition Ticket
Scope and Contents
The collection is comprised of one stockholder’s coupon ticket booklet issued to Martha Thomas for the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis in 1904. This booklet includes a photograph of Mrs. Thomas pasted inside the front cover. There are five pages of unused daily admission coupons but also evidence of several pages having been used. Pasted to the back cover is a “complimentary season frank” good for one free admission with the purchase of a regular admission ticket to three Pike attractions: Galveston Flood, Battle Abbey, and New York to the North Pole.

Biographical Sketch
Martha Edwards was born in England in 1839 and came to the United States in 1857. According to the 1880 census, Martha married George Thomas (1837-1900), a carriage manufacturer, and they had six children. After becoming a widow in 1900, Martha lived with her son, Henry Thomas, at 5014 Kensington Avenue. She died on September 2, 1913.
