Biographical Sketch
Blanche Louise Oden Tucker was born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1896, and married George W. Tucker in 1920. In 1921, she founded the Tucker Business Institute and Service Company, which later became known as the Tucker Business College. The college was the first business college in the United States to teach African-American women secretarial science. She died June 27, 1966, in St. Louis.

The collection was donated to the Missouri Historical Society in 2000 by Ms. Ollie Tucker Ward.
Separated Materials
Several photographs were transferred to the Photographs and Prints Department. A Tucker College scarf was transferred to the Collections Department.
