The collection contains financial statements of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (Clayton, Mo.), 1923-1936; papers relating to the St. Louis Ordnance Plant Powder Storage Area, 1942; papers and photocopies of newspaper clippings mostly relating to Martin L. Neaf’s work as St. Louis County assessor, 1932-1956; photographs; and typescript reminiscences of Martin L. Neaf’s daughter Genevieve Neaf, circa 1992.

Biographical Sketch

Martin L. Neaf was born September 21, 1891, in Clayton, St. Louis County, Missouri. He served as St. Louis County assessor from 1933 to 1941, and later worked as a real estate and insurance broker and appraiser. He married Elsie Human (1897-1985). Martin L. Neaf died August 23, 1969, in St. Louis.
