The collection contains tax receipts, deeds, and the will of Charles Buchmiller (1823-1883), stepfather of Mrs. Louisa Arnold; four letters signed Edward Spahr, St. Louis, to Francis T. Mills, 1873-1874; 15 photographs taken in Oregon County, Missouri, circa 1915; 27 postcards sent to Miss Mary Hodnett and Mrs. L.A. Arnold; and other Arnold family papers and photographs.

Biographical Sketch

George W. Arnold was born July 24, 1844, in Scott County, Missouri. After studying law, he became involved in Scott County Republican politics. He held the offices of sheriff, collector, county recorder, and circuit clerk. In 1883 he moved to Springfield, Missouri, where he served as deputy county recorder and later deputy circuit clerk. In 1903 he became criminal clerk of the Greene County Criminal Court, a position he held until his death in 1905. He married Louisa Buissart (1844-1929). Anthony L. Arnold (1868-1959) was the son of George W. and Louisa Arnold.
