French. Discusses several issues relating to the Spanish administration of Louisiana; refers to Delassus’ failure to establish a thriving trade and to the failure of crops at Ste. Genevieve and New Bourbon; unfortunate dealings with Mr. [Peter] Audrain and Mr. [Barthelemi] Tardiveau; money advanced and barges provided to Delassus in order to bring families from Galliopolis [Ohio]; Delassus’ need to fulfill his contract and that he must present a request for an extension, and another request to explore the mines, to the new Intendant, Francisco de Rendon; believes Rendon has a secret mission to deal with Kentucky and thwart Americans looking west; plans to establish a fort for the Osages, later Fort Carondelet, and finds in Chouteau “the sentiments of an honest man”; requests that Delassus send his “views to benefit the colony and the abuses to be corrected.” English translations (3): 1 handwritten, 2 typescripts. , 1794 May 25
