- Hamilton Rowan Gamble Papers | Letter signed Lucien Eaton, St. Louis, to Gov. H.R. Gamble, Philadelphia. In conversation this morning with Adj. Genl. Gray I learned you are under the impression that on the 9th of July last I attended and participated in the Radical meeting at the Court House, in which resolutions personally denunciatory of yourself were adopted. This, directly on the heels of my commission from you would justly be considered at least ungrateful. I did not attend that meeting or participate in the preparation of those resolutions, nor have I, to this day, informed myself of the details of those resolutions, having never read them, or heard them read. Individuals mentioned include Adj. Genl. John B. Gray. (2 pages), 1863 Aug 17
