- Hamilton Rowan Gamble Papers | Letter signed H.R. Gamble, St. Louis, to Robert A. Barnes. The state needs $150,000 to purchase arms for the militia. It is intended to raise the money by assessments from those who are known to be enemies of the government. Since the money is needed immediately I have caused the sum to be divided among the banks of the city in proportion to their capitol. The Bank of Missouri is to furnish $48,000. Individuals mentioned include General Schofield. Purchased from R.K. Trevor, June, 1946, $5.00. (2 pages), 1862 Sept 1
