- Hamilton Rowan Gamble Papers | Letter signed Willard P. Hall, St. Joseph, Missouri, to Governor H.R. Gamble. I have just received the enclosed. As General Loan is in the field, I have not been able to see him. General Loan has certainly never used any such language in my hearing. On the contrary he seems cordial in his support of the provision government, When it was rumored that a military governor was to be appointed for this state, he expressed great dissatisfaction at the rumored charge. He thought it might be necessary to disregard Order Number 23. I do not believe General Loan has been guilty of any insubordination. I am informed that no applications were even made for the privileges accorded by Order Number 23. (2 pages), 1862 Aug 12
