The Secretary of War has announced that they have met with “a very serious disaster.” There has been desperate fighting at Richmond for the week past and McClellan has retired with great loss. “The 11th Regulars—Coalter Bates’ regiment—is reported as annihilated.” Advises him to prepare to keep the peace in Missouri.
