- Hamilton Rowan Gamble Papers | Letter signed J.B. Henderson, Louisiana, Missouri, to Governor Gamble. Please advise the President to join with the convention in extending a pardon to our prisoners for all past offenses. It will reclaim some good young men who were influenced by bad parents or bad associations or both. Impress on him our great need of equipage and food. If you cannot make this arrangement with the President inquire of my good friend Colonel Gantt. North Missouri is now a magazine filled with officers and soldiers from the Lexington fight who are preparing the public mind for the most desperate struggle yet witnessed in the war. If it would happen that Price should get the advantage over Fremont in the impending battle to be fought in southwest Missouri, war of extermination at once begins here. Individuals mentioned include President Lincoln, General John C. Fremont and General Sterling Price. Places mentioned include North Missouri, Southwest Missouri and Lexington. (4 pages), 1861 Oct 22
