- Hamilton Rowan Gamble Papers | Letter signed A.W. Morrison, North of the River, to H.R. Gamble, Provisional Governor of Missouri. The accumulation of troops in the city and the great excitement occasioned by the dead and wounded being brought in yesterday has caused my wife to be overcome. I am compelled to take her out of the city and have crossed the river in a skift. I have instructed my son to bring my carriage and horses over and I will return in a day or two to attend to my business. Please hand the package of gold to Mr. Dunscomb who is my deputy. Individuals mentioned include Preston Morrison and Dunscomb. (1 page), 1861 Aug 21
