- Saint Louis History Collection | Letter signed John R. Kimball, St. Louis, to Brother Augustine, Boston, Mass. We arrived here a week ago, have taken a part of T.J. Homer’s store and have as good a stand as there is in St. Louis. In four days after my arrival was opening goods. Times here never more severe than now, money is not plenty. I love this city more and more. Everyone is grumbling of hard times. I tell them hard times are here to stay, but I am reconciled.
