I took a regular survey of the market at St. Louis and find the city completely clear of all kinds of desirable goods. I have especially noticed the clothing market. There is a large lot of cheap, unsaleable clothing. The plain, desirable goods are always scarce here after a few weeks. The boat hands buy an immense amount of goods. Would like to do business with your firm. Mentions articles desired particularly frock coats of finer quality in dark colors, especially blue. This is first rate country and I am enjoying visit. I am half inclined to settle in the West. Money can be made here and now is the time to strike. Visited the Monticello Institute for females. You cannot find a finer school anywhere.
