- Steamboats and River History Collection | Handwritten and typescript copy of the reminiscences written by Mrs. [Narcissa] Garrett recalling her experiences as a passenger on the steamboat <span class="italic emph">Buckeye</span> when it sank after being struck by the steamboat Desoto on the Mississippi River above the mouth of the Red River on March 1, 1844. Reminiscences also discuss the rescue efforts following the sinking, and subsequent medical treatment she received for her injured arm.
