Leighton, which he apparently acquired while president of the Missouri Historical Society. Letters to James S. Butler and Elihu Shephard in response to requests for information on existing societies and invitations to attend formation meetings are included. Also present is a leather-covered booklet containing a subscription list for an unsuccessful 1883 fundraising drive. A particularly fine note from Lyman C.
