Letter signed Millicent Petrov Shyne to Jon [Lindbergh]. 5 pg., 1997
Scope and Contents
The collection is comprised of a letter from Millicent Petrov Shyne to Jon Lindbergh in approximately 1997 about when they met during his 1948 visit to St. Louis. It is Mrs. Shyne’s handwritten copy of the letter she wrote to Lindbergh. Esther Mueller, curator at the Missouri Historical Society, asked Millicent Shyne and her husband to entertain Jon Lindbergh, son of Charles Lindbergh, when he visited St. Louis in 1948. Jon Lindbergh stopped in St. Louis to see the awards and accolades that his father donated to the History Museum after his historic 1927 trans-Atlantic flight. In the letter, Millicent reminisces about his visit, explains how Ms. Mueller asked for her assistance, and told him about seeing Charles Lindbergh upon his return to St. Louis along with other city school children.
