Scope and Contents
From the Collection:
The collection is comprised entirely of photocopies and includes handwritten notes, transcripts and copies of sources materials, a “complete study of the entire family” by genealogist Harry Wright Newman in 1971, and Colma Adams’ membership application for the Daughters of America Colonists in 1980.
The earliest ancestor mentioned is George Hardesty (1620-1666) who was born in England and came to Calvert County, Maryland, with his wife Ann before the birth of their son George. Most of the family history documentation began with Benjamin Hardesty who was born in Maryland in 1735. He emigrated to Kentucky and his descendants eventually came to Missouri.
