Series 16: Audio Cassettes. Audio cassettes, or compact cassettes, are magnetic tape sound recordings that replaced audio reels in popularity starting in the late 1960s. Listening requires cassette players that are still in use today.

From the Collection:

The Richard A. Gephardt Audio/Visual Collection contains both personal and professional moving images. The bulk of the holdings center around Mr. Gephardt's tenure in Congress, speeches, press conferences, campaigns both Congressional and Presidential, and guest spots. As a whole, the collection mirrors Richard Gephardt's increasing use of audio and visual materials in the political process from the 1970s onward. (166 boxes)
