Visits-Vice President Gore visit-Rally., 1998
Scope and Contents
The Richard A. Gephardt Congressional Photograph Collection contains images related to Gephardt's personal and public life. The bulk of the holdings involve Gephardt's career as a congressman and related activities. Most photos are amateur snapshots. There are also a large number of professionally shot images throughout the collection. The collection includes both color and black-and-white images in a variety of formats as well as a wide range of media, including positive prints, negatives, slides, and transparencies. Although the collection covers a diversity of subject matter, several large groupings of photographs center around visits by President Bill Clinton, Vice-President Al Gore, and First Lady Hillary Clinton to St. Louis; Gephardt's 1988 Presidential campaign; and numerous fundraising events. Collectively the images present a comprehensive and candid portrait of his tenure from 1977 to 2003 as representative of Missouri's 3rd Congressional District and his role in local, national, and international political life during that time period.
