Letter signed Michel Amoureux, Ste. Genevieve, to Charles Gregoire, care of Jesse S. Duval & Company, Philadelphia. Mr. Bogy has probably given you details of the commerce in this country. There is an abundance of European merchandise in Atlantic ports. Everywhere there is a shortage of good woolens and hardware. Our citizens should be induced to turn more to raising sheep and manufacturing good strong woolens to meet the increase in the European population. I have no basis on which to make a satisfactory opinion on our War with England but hope daily for a general peace. I return your note on Mr. Samuel Anderson, which I was unable to collect. Explains circumstances of the note and information about the family, which may assist in the collection of the note. Names mentioned: Mrs. Samuel Anderson and Samuel Anderson Jr. Places mentioned: Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Canada, United States, France, Portugal, Spain, South America, Russia, and L'Orient, France.
