Scope and Contents
The collection consists mostly of genealogical data collected by Mrs. Howard Bailey and information relating to hereditary organizations she joined. Genealogical information on the following surnames is included: Adams, Bacon, Bailey, Barclay/Baxley, Barton, Bassett, Butler, Chilcutt, Clark, Cole, Cooper, Cosby, Ellis, Gilliland, Higginson, Kimbrough, Marshall, Martin, Merritt, Pierce, Ragsdale, Roscoe/Roscow, Salmon, Spiller, Taylor, Tipton, Walker, Wear/Weir, Wheaton, Williams, Wills, and Young. Also included is some correspondence with the League of Women Voters, information on Confederates and the War of 1812, the Hanover County Record Book (1783-1792), and some family correspondence.
