Pioneer Club Satin Badge. The badge, pinned to a badge of the same size which reads, "Missouri," was found in the Pioneer Collection in the Archives, between pages 78 and 79 of the Pioneers' minute book for the period March 8, 1901 to February 5, 1909. These pages of the minute book relate that the General Federation of Women's Clubs held its biennial convention at the Fairgrounds in St. Louis from May 17 to 25, 1904. A mass meeting to which all the Missouri member clubs were invited took place at Festival Hall on Thursday, May 19, and the minute book states, "All are requested to wear badges." The minute book appears to have been donated to MHS by the Pioneers in 1949, although no confirmation of this has been found in the accession books., 1904

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Pioneers Collection consists mainly of the organization's minutes from its origin in 1879 to the present (1999), and yearbooks from 1949 to the present. There are a few notable gaps in the minutes, namely from 1930 to 1933, 1940 to 1949, and 1970 to 1977. The run of yearbooks, which outline the course of study for the year and often contain lists of members, is more complete, although there are a few missing. The collection also contains some printed constitutions and by-laws, a number of papers presented by member Betty (Mrs. Edwin) Grossman, reading lists and study outlines, and a folder of invitations and programs from 1879 to the present.
