Letter signed William A. Hall, Huntsville, Mo., to Dr. Nickolas Marmion and Lydia Marmion, Harpers Ferry, Va. Dear Doctor: Discussion of money owed writer, request for payment of note. Willard [P. Hall] has just left us, and from the accounts he gives there is reason to hope he will soon have a good practice. Dear Lydia: I have nothing to write. I might describe western scenery or western manners but those you can get cheaper and better from Travels or Geographies. Questions about girls in Harpers Ferry. Ma [Statira Hall] is very much disposed to turn me out. She finds she can get along without me and so she wants me to marry off. I am going to squat shortly and take a preemption, and then if I can find a gentle being who will grace my humble cabin and take love and hard times, there is her chance.
