Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Yealy Family Papers consist of property deeds, family records, tax receipts, land surveys, legal documents, and ledgers relating to said family and the Bleifuss Family of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. The collection is composed largely of land records. Among the records is an agreement dated March 15, 1850, between Joseph and Benjamin Amoureux and the priests of the parish of Ste. Genevieve for a section of land known as the Little Field in New Bourbon. Many of the prominent families of Ste. Genevieve, such as the Valles, Prattes, and Roziers, are represented in the documents. Baptismal records for Pierre Charles Moise and a marriage record for Pierre Valle and Mary Ferguson can be found in Folder 2, dated August 16, 1851. Receipts for expenses relating to the illness and death of Michael Bleifuss can also be found in Folder 2, dated September 1853. The collection contains two letterbooks of Augustin Kennerly, 1831-1833, describing his activities as agent of the Seneca Sub-Agency at Clark's Prairie. The second half of Book 2 contains account information for the Bleifuss store at Ste. Genevieve, 1857. The connection between Kennerly and Bleifuss is not known.
