 File — Box: 1, Folder: 5

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The papers consist of correspondence, fundraising event documents, and volunteer information relating to the St. Louis Gay & Lesbian Hotline coordinated by Challenge-Metro, Inc. of St. Louis. The papers are arranged alphabetically by topic. The collection dates from 1998 to 2018, with the bulk of the collection dating from 1998 to 2004. There is a large date gap from 2005 to 2017.

Dr. Clark J. Hickman saved correspondence, some board meeting agenda and documents, fundraising event planning and flyers/programs, and lists of volunteers and a 1999 volunteer handbook that he used as both a volunteer and as a board member with Challenge-Metro, Inc.’s hotline. The correspondence consists of printed emails, letters, and memos to board members regarding meetings and activities and to volunteers conveying operational information and board decisions. In February 2003, talks began with Pride St. Louis to take over the hotline.

The Board of Directors file contains some correspondence among the board members, agenda, and meeting documents such as financial reports. There are several pages containing lists of board members that also include lists of volunteers. Dr. Hickman provided a detailed history of the organization when he donated the papers (f.5).
