Hellman, one repaying note, another recollecting events of a business failure nine years before, and the last acknowledging a gift of flowers on the 10th anniversary of the event. A list of names indicates the “tried friends” who advanced money at that critical time with two of the names crossed off in red indicating that they demanded payment of their notes earlier than the others. , 1897-1898
