Letter signed Frank C. Morris, Hazelbrook, Virginia, to Mrs. Skinker. Your letter of April 17th was duly received and at the time Aunt Sally’s health was very precarious. Her condition is very distressing to me, as she insists on living at Ferncliff and frequently her servant leaves and she is there alone. About the furniture, it was levied on by the sheriff for debt and my brother Tom paid the debt for her. I sincerely sympathize with you and Mr. Skinker in your troubles and trust they are alleviated ere this, tho’ I believe they come as certainly as the passage of time and are cast off only in death. . . ., No year July 9
Scope and Contents
The collection consists primarily of Skinker family correspondence, the bulk of which is between Thomas K. Skinker and his wife, Bertha Rives Skinker. The collection also contains several folders of tax receipts of Thomas Skinker dated 1839-1886. This finding aid was compiled by keying in the document descriptions on the folder covers. These document descriptions were presumably written by a Missouri Historical Society archivist soon after the collection was purchased in 1978.
