Letter signed T.K. Skinker to wife. On the 9th, Bella and I took an automobile drive. The little Bartlett girls’ mother was Ada Rutherford. . . . When we were on the Gravois Road our tire suddenly popped. I found the Hawes bungalow. I was met in the yard by Mrs. Hawes with her mother Mrs. Robinson, nee Lizzie Giles the beautiful. I noticed that the road oiling ends just west of the Hawes place. Whether this is pull or pay, I don’t know; but Harry is fine on pull., 1913 Aug 20
Scope and Contents
The collection consists primarily of Skinker family correspondence, the bulk of which is between Thomas K. Skinker and his wife, Bertha Rives Skinker. The collection also contains several folders of tax receipts of Thomas Skinker dated 1839-1886. This finding aid was compiled by keying in the document descriptions on the folder covers. These document descriptions were presumably written by a Missouri Historical Society archivist soon after the collection was purchased in 1978.
