Letter signed Alexander Rives Skinker, Little Rock, Arkansas, to mother, St. Louis. This summer when I visited at Harbor Point I met a girl who was also visiting Billy Marrierre. . . . Unfortunately, however, she lives in Bloomington, Illinois. What I want you to do is ask her to come and visit us in St. Louis for a couple of days following Christmas. This may sound like a very strange arrangement to you to have a girl coming to see me. . . . Is this too much of a new fashioned idea for you? Her name is Doris N. Rinehart., 1911 Dec 13
Scope and Contents
The collection consists primarily of Skinker family correspondence, the bulk of which is between Thomas K. Skinker and his wife, Bertha Rives Skinker. The collection also contains several folders of tax receipts of Thomas Skinker dated 1839-1886. This finding aid was compiled by keying in the document descriptions on the folder covers. These document descriptions were presumably written by a Missouri Historical Society archivist soon after the collection was purchased in 1978.
