Letter signed T.K. Skinker to wife. Many friends are asking after Bella, among others today Jim Seddon, John Lee, Mr. Morton and Dr. Winchester. Bertha arrived on time this morning, safe and well. We viewed no. 3738 Washington Ave. (description). A look at the outside was enough. The Orricks are out of town, as are Judge and Mrs. Valliant. These two houses are therefore not to be considered. Dr. Williamson is at the Palmer house, Chicago. Cabell Gray reports that at Mackinac he staid at the seven-dollar-a-day hotel., 1901 Aug 29

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection consists primarily of Skinker family correspondence, the bulk of which is between Thomas K. Skinker and his wife, Bertha Rives Skinker. The collection also contains several folders of tax receipts of Thomas Skinker dated 1839-1886. This finding aid was compiled by keying in the document descriptions on the folder covers. These document descriptions were presumably written by a Missouri Historical Society archivist soon after the collection was purchased in 1978.
