Letter signed T.K. Skinker to wife. Your letter gives me a very clear understanding of your situation and Bella’s condition. Tell her I will agree to laugh at none of Bertha’s jokes till she comes home. Nothing could be fairer than this. Carroll Stribling and Will Maffitt inquired after her today. I have inspected house no. 4318 Laclede. It is dirty and nearly opposite to Mike Hanick’s residence and wagon and mule yard., 1901 Aug 27
Scope and Contents
The collection consists primarily of Skinker family correspondence, the bulk of which is between Thomas K. Skinker and his wife, Bertha Rives Skinker. The collection also contains several folders of tax receipts of Thomas Skinker dated 1839-1886. This finding aid was compiled by keying in the document descriptions on the folder covers. These document descriptions were presumably written by a Missouri Historical Society archivist soon after the collection was purchased in 1978.
