In early February 1970, Elizabeth buys a new car and sells Bun’s. She takes a trip to Naples, Florida, on March 23 to play more bridge. She visits Caribbean Gardens while there and returns April 6. She gathers reading materials on Turkey and other Near East countries in early June. She takes a trip to Minnesota in mid-June for a day or two. “Mister” becomes very sick around the end of June; Elizabeth mentions him again on November 17. On June 30, she takes a trip to the Middle East and returns September 15. Elizabeth visits the Shaw House a lot this year, probably volunteering since she counts the number of guests on December 2., 1970
