On January 1, 1968, Elizabeth writes about colored television. In mid-January, she gets Mexican travel cards and Bun moves again, still in school. On January 20, Elizabeth hears Reagan speak at the Arena. She goes to Phoenix on January 29. On February 1, she reaches Wild Horse and attends picnics, plays bridge, and enjoys visiting attractions. She travels to Naples by mid-February and socializes with the Yacht Club. She returns to St. Louis on March 13. She has surgery for a dead-eye tooth on April 4, and Dr. Buehl is introduced. She takes off for Naples on April 30 and John meets her there. She goes to the derby and sees a yacht race. She returns home on May 14. On May 28, Dr. Buehl drills a tooth. On July 12, Elizabeth buys a 1967 green Rambler. She gathers clothes for Korea from the Scholarshop. She takes a trip to Boston on August 15 for a wedding and returns just days later. Elizabeth continues doing more GOP [Republican party] political work and tries to hook up a telephone answering “gadget” in mid-October. On October 24, she leaves for Savannah for what sounds like a convention. She finds out Reagan won on November 6 at 10 am. She receives new dentures two days later. Elizabeth spends Christmas in Naples and finds a “companion” to spend time with., 1968

The collection contains 14 diaries written by Elizabeth Nulsen Young. The diaries cover the years 1917 to 1976 and briefly list her day-to-day activities. Each diary includes five years, with the exception of one travel diary of a trip to Europe in 1956 and the last diary (1976), which only contains one calendar year.
