Biography / Exhibitions - Cards, Program, 2014-ca. 2015
Scope and Contents
The small collection includes four items arranged chronologically. There is a biography of Gerumba; a promotional card for the FV Art Faculty Exhibition, Contemporary Art Gallery, St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley; and a promotional card and program for Hands Up, Don’t’Shoot: Artists Respond, Alliance of Black Art Galleries.
The Hands Up, Don’t Shoot exhibition was presented by the Alliance of Black Art Galleries in the aftermath of the fatal shooting of Michael Brown on 9 August 2014 by a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer. It included over 100 artists from around the nation exhibiting works in 14 venues, showing from October through December, 2014. In the program, the curator explained the rationale behind the exhibition and included both a list of the artists and photographs of select artwork.
