Letter signed Geo. N. Thompson [George N. Thompson], Leasburg, Caswell Co., North Carolina, to J.F. Darby, St. Louis, Mo. Congratulates Darby on success in suit of Cabanne heirs. No case involving so great an amount has been before the courts in a life time, nor is one likely to occur since the establishment of the new regime adopted by a few carpetbag lawyers since the surrender. Samuel Johnston, age 81, is visiting and asks to be remembered to Darby and his family. [filed in 1872 Sept-Dec], 1872 Dec 2
