Letter signed Gardner Folsome, St. Louis, to Lewis Boynton, Stanstead, Lower Canada. Folsome would like to start a store but has not the means. I have at present one negro that brings me in 12 1/2 dollars a month…I have one or two bad debts standing that here in New Orleans amounting to nearly three thousand dollars but for all that I am not broke quite but if my darkey should take it in his head to die, why it would try me considerably.
