Letter signed W.A. Dickey, St. Louis, Mo, to Hiram K. Dickey, Massilon, Stark County, Ohio. It afforded me much pleasure to hear of the health of your family…sorry to hear of the affliction you suffered with your eye. Massilon is bound to be a place of some renown possessing all the advantages it does…as respects business, not to dip too heavy in it…place but little confidence in anyone. St. Louis is destined to be one of the greatest cities in the west…before 3 years there will be a crash to surpass 1837-8…our goods arrived safe and we got ready for making sales. The worst opposition is through the auction rooms…but being entire strangers I think we done very well. I want a young lady from 16-24 years worth $5000 or more and a good industrious one who can keep house. Individuals mentioned: Mr. Hellman, Dr. Waldo, Buck, Mr. Law, Mary, Mother, Maria, Jesse, Edmund, and Henry Sindemuth. Places mentioned: Cincinnati, New York, and Main St., 1843 Nov 12
