Text reads, “We or either of us promise to deliver, or cause to be delivered to __________ Captain of Company _____ an Independent Company of Militia in Belleville, enrolled State Militia, or his successor in office, one U.S. Enfield Rifled Musket and accoutrements, or its equivalent in money to the amount of Forty-Five Dollars Fifty Cents whenever thereunto required by said Captain; said accoutrements consisting of one Cartridge Box, one Cap Box, one waist belt, one breast belt, one Bayonet scabbard and three plates.”, 1864 Oct
